Thank you so very much for your advise, it was most helpful. Even the Sony tech support guy did not mention turning on the Bluetooth items you told me to. But, still no sound, there is still a problem.

Lg hbs 800 troubleshooting

I can't set the Bluetooth headphones as the default device. I got to the playback devices by right clicking the speaker symbol in the lower right hand corner next to the time & date. I then clicked on playback devices. I went to Bluetooth headphones and tied to set the Bluetooth headphones as the default device. It won't let me do so. All the Bluetooth you told me about are turned on.

That is where I am at now. Do you have any other advise? Thanks again, Tony. I suspect the driver for the headphones are not compatible and the Sony website says there is no drivers. I don't have a bluetooth headset so I am flying blind here. Go back to services.msc be sure both 'Bluetooth Handsfree Services' and 'Bluetooth Support Service' are set to run automatically.

Go to run and open devmgmt.msc and uninstall the bluetooth driver. Now go to run and open regedit and navigate to. HKEYLOCALMACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion With CurrentVersion selected over on the right pane look for (ab string) CurrentVersion. Right-click CurrentVersion and choose modify.

Change the value from 6.3 to 6.2 Close out all the files on the right pane and close the registry. Reboot the system and reinstall the bluetooth headset. If that still doesn't fix the problem then there could be unfroseen damage to files. Reverse what you did in the registry above back to 6.3 Once that is done go to run and type cmd right-click runas admin and type sfc /scannow.

Be sure to do Microsoft updates as well. I am speculating that the headphones worked in Windows 8, but now not working with 8.1 I am surprised Sony doesn't have a solution to this problem. Have you thought about upgrading to Windows 10? I thought I would never hear myself suggest that. Lol However, I am speculating that Windows 10 would have to have much better Bluetooth support because Windows 10 according to Microsoft will run on anything or has plans to have it run on smaller hand held devices. You can't accomplish that without having better support for sdcard/micro-sd, usb/micro-usb and blueooth/wifi etc. It would be a coin toss, but you would have the latest OS for free and can reverse it if need be.

It seems you have gotten a hardware device that got caught between the phase of many OS upgrades. You may ultimately have to buy a new headset.

The mention of Rocketfish and confusion on my part is due to not paying attention to who is posting.:) The original poster mentioned Rocketfish. Okay, now that I know it's a Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module, I can make some slightly-more-edumacated guesses.

XD So here's what we've got. The Dell module is based on a Broadcom chipset (yay!) with custom Dell controllers (Gak!). I don't have any solid answers for this one because of that.:( The steps I would take: 1: Delete/uninstall/remove (NOT disable!!) all Bluetooth items from installed software and Device Manager in order to start fresh. Reboot -only- after everything is removed, since it should try to reinstall on reboot. 2: Allow Microsoft drivers to install. Reboot only if required. 3: Test with Dell drivers.

If this does not work, you would need to go back to step 1 and start over, butt it's better to use Dell in this case if it will work. 3.1 - Install Dell Drivers. 3.2 - Reboot if requested.

3.3 - Follow pairing directions below. 3.4 - If it worked, set Audio Playback to appropriate Bluetooth device and enjoy. Remember that YOU CANNOT RECORD FROM BLUETOOTH WHEN HIGH QUALITY AUDIO IS IN USE! 3.5 - If it didn't work, return to Step 1 and then skip all Step 3 items. 4: WITHOUT installing Dell drivers, only MS drivers and Bluetooth device enabled, install Broadcom drivers. 4.1 - Reboot if necessary. 4.2 - Follow pairing directions below.

4.3 - If it worked, set Audio Playback to appropriate Bluetooth device and enjoy. Remember that YOU CANNOT RECORD FROM BLUETOOTH WHEN HIGH QUALITY AUDIO IS IN USE! 4.4 - If it didn't work, try to avoid pulling hair out over the inane fact that a tiny phone can work flawlessly while a powerful computer struggles with Bluetooth. Pairing: - Open Bluetooth Places and start searching for devices with the headset OFF. Hold call button while turning headset on and continue to hold it until the headset enters pairing mode. Stare at computer screen and hope it shows up.

If/When it shows up, pair and connect. Cross your fingers and hope that Audio Sink is one of the profiles that are set. If only Headset/Hands Free are shown, or if it gives an error/can't-find-driver/blows up with a small pop., then this didn't work. (. It shouldn't blow up. If it does, send me pictures. XD ) I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
